Eating Disorders Support Service PDF Print E-mail

The foundation member organisation EDAsa was established in 1983 under the name of ABNA, with the aim of providing information and support to people with eating disorders, their friends and families as well as to better inform the community of the effects of these conditions.  Today, the values and traditions of EDAsa have been continued through the amalgamation into Aceda, with the response to the needs of the community including individuals experiencing eating disorders, their parents, partners and supporters via the provision of a variety of services.

This includes confidential information and referral, telephone and one-to-one support, advocacy, community education, support groups and research participation.  The development of programs and projects will now include eating disorders such as binge eating and obesity.  An emerging trend in male eating disorders associated with muscularity will also become a clear focus of Aceda in all aspects of support, training and research.

Aceda is continuing to build on established relationships with universities and hospitals to ensure best practice support services are developed and provided for all those who access support from across the state.
